Guess what? Me and my friend Andrea are going to Japan December 20 - January 6! And I couldn't be more excited. I have wanted to go to Japan ever since I can remember. Now we need your help! ReplyDeleteJag har en vän som ska hålla till i Kyoto i sådär åtta månader, men start från början av oktober. Jag håller tummarna för att jag ska kunna åka och besöka henne för Japan är nog en såndär grej man måste uppleva,

om ni ska åka runt kan det vara en god ide att köpa tågkort här i sverige för det kan man inte köpa på plats (ca 2500 kr för 7 dagar har jag för mig...). jag var där 2 intensiva veckor i somras: tokyo, kanasawa, kyoto och naoshima (konst-mecka) med omkringliggande öar. maila mig om du vill ha mer tips!

ReplyDeletea friend of mine recently went and stayed in a hotel for 8 days but found a group of apartments they let out to tourists one month at a time for $500 AUD...the same price she paid for 8 days :/

I,ve been there last June, but only for a few days (i live in China so it was quite easy) it was a lifetime dream and I wasn't disappointed. Tokyo is a must of course but go to Kyoto if you have sometime, it's just fairy-tale gorgeous x
ReplyDeleteHopefully it'll be snowing! Kyoto and it's old, old temples are the most amazing things to see covered in white blanket! Tokyo, you have your obvious picks like Harajuku, which is super fun. But there are little pockets of fun everywhere! Cute shops in Daikanyama in particular. Have fun!

ReplyDeleteaaah, jealous! I spent three weeks in japan this september and i want to go back with the first occasion! around tokyo, try lake kawaguchi-go(and the views to mt. fuji), yokohama, kamakura and the ghibli museum as well!

Lucky girl! I went to Japan over the summer and had an amazing week in Tokyo. If you're a fan of the Studio Ghibli animated movies, I would definitely recommend visiting the Ghibli museum, which is a short train ride outside of the city. It was a very magical experience. Also, for inexpensive food options, definitely check out the basement levels of department stores and the food courts in train stations (the main Tokyo station was a particular favorite). Many people there give out free samples. I'd also recommend visiting Nikko if you want to see some beautiful old temples, even though it is a few hours train ride away. Have an amazing time, and I can't wait to see the pictures!
ReplyDeleteInstämmer med alla andra, ser verkligen fram emot dina bilder från Japan. Jag var där på min bröllopsresa 2008. Kyoto (som är magiskt), Okinawa (för att få lite sol o bad) och Tokyo för shopping och galenskap. Bland det roligaste jag gjorde var att besöka en riktig karaokebar och att kolla in utbudet av maskeraddräkter på varuhuset tokyu hands.
ReplyDeleteOh, by the way, I'd recommend you to explore this lovely district called Shimokitazawa in Tokyo. It's about 10min train ride from Shinjuku/Shibuya, and the area's got very cozy, laid-back atmosphere with many nice second-hand shops and cafes. ;)
ReplyDeleteYay! I just got back from Japan 3 days ago, it was wonderful! Make sure you find the stationery store called Itoya in Tokyo - it's 9 storeys of amazing. And a warning, as a fellow graphic designer, allow 2 hours at least to browse.
