Last night I got back from a week on the beach in Pefkochori, Greece. A week filled with sunshine, amazing food, half-an-hour swims in turquoise water ten times a day and the rest of the day spent with a book (two steps from the water) was exactly what I needed. As I watched the rain pour down during the entire train ride home from the airport I had a really hard time coming up with good reasons to live in Sweden when I could live somewhere sunny and warm. I'll be back soon with photos from the week.

Igår kväll kom jag hem efter en vecka på stranden i grekiska Pefkochori. En vecka fylld av solsken, fantastisk mat, halvtimmesbad i turkost vatten tio gånger om dagen och resten av tiden djupt i en bok (två steg från vattnet) var precis vad jag behövde. När regnet öste ner under hela tågresan från flygplatsen hade jag svårt att komma på bra anledningar till att bo i Sverige när man kan bo i ett soligt och varmt land istället. Fler bilder kommer.

    Oh dear... I live on the Mediterranean, just across from Greece, but in Italy, and I look at your photos of fresher, cooler places nd I envy you! (I'm from Finland, but have lived there only very little, about 10 years in all) ... The Med is beautiful, granted, but having to live, cook, clean, wash, shop etcetc in the heat is not always so great! =)
    Love the blog... I can smell the air from your pictures!

    @tea I totally afree with you :-) !! I too live in Italy and I'm Italian, but whenever I visit some places abroad, esp. up in the north, I understand what living in order and peace means! It's not all made of gold, of course, but our beautiful Med' is not this heaven as it may appear...

    tea & Claudia IT: maybe I should clarify, I don't want to do anything other than lie on a beach in a sunny and warm place, haha! I totally know what you mean, the few hours I spent in Thessaloniki made me realize how exhausting it must be for everyone who has to live in that heat every day.

    lovely. i get that same feeling in chicago sometimes, when i realize that half of my year is spent with a winter coat and snow boots. it makes you ever so thankful for the mild weather, though!

    I was in Greece too, the last 8 days. We went to Samos, the third time in 6 years! I fell in love with that country the first time in 2007.

    So friendly, so warm, so blue!! And the food there, just great! I love mezedes!!

    I am looking forward for your photos of the holiday!!!
