How to prepare for a trip to Japan while saving money for said trip: Get the cheapest sushi you can find (at Chinabox) and go to the library and borrow every book they have about Japan. Then go home, sit down on your couch, eat the sushi and drool over everything pretty in the library books and listen to this song over and over again.

ReplyDeletejealous! you're going to have a fabulous time!
ReplyDeleteAh. It's good to see I'm not the only who raids libraries before a trip! I bet you'll have a wonderful time there!
ReplyDeleteI had the good fortune to live in Tokyo for a few months. It's now my favorite place in the world for design and food. Even the local convenient stores had delicious food. No matter what you do or where you go you'll always treasure the memories. Two books I recommend: Old Kyoto: The Updated Guide to Traditional Shops, Restaurants, and Inns by Diane Dursten (older, but still good) and Japan's Hidden Hot Springs by
ReplyDeleteRobert Neff.
Looking forward to hearing all about your trip.
Would love to go to Japan one day. And learning Swedish with your English translations. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'm doing the same thing, but instead Japan i'm focused on Sweden ;-) I really want to visit Hälsingland!
